TECHNICAL SUMMARY

According to the different shapes, milling shoes can be divided into: flat bottom junk type, taper type, string type, pilot type etc.

▪️Flat bottom mill

The flat bottom mill milling the fishes with the effect of drilling pressure by the YD alloy and anti-abrasive material on its bottom surface. The junk was carried out of well by the drilling fluid.
▪️Taper mill

The taper mill is mainly used for restoring the deformational fish’s top or restoring the crimping and burrs during drilling and clean the mineral crystallization and other hard stuff on the well to resume bore size.

▪️Pilot mill

The pilot mill is made up of mill shoe body and pilot cone, as the following picture. The upper part of the mill shoe body is inner thread, the lower part is cylinder which diameter is bigger.

▪️String mill

The String Mill (also called watermelon mill) is designed to clean out casing and whipstock windows. It also called Watermelon Mill. Their short leading and trailing angles, allow the mill to clean "bird nest" and other obstructions in the string, while the bottom hole tool is milling. This string mill assures that the milled section maintains full gage.
